ABSTRACT

【Objective】 To investigate dynamic regional homogeneity (dReHo) abnormality in end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients by using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI). 【Methods】 A total of 26 ESRD patients and 26 healthy controls (HC) matched in gender, education level and age were included. Rs-fMRI scanning was performed in all subjects. All the subjects were tested by using auditory verbal learning test Huashan version (AVLT-H) and Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) to assess cognitive function before collection of MRI data. T-test was used to observe the difference in dReHo at global level between the two groups. Pearson and Spearman correlation analyses were made to estimate the correlation between abnormal brain regions and clinical scales. 【Results】 Compared with HC group, the dReHo value in ESRD patients reduced on the bilateral superior margin gyrus, left insula, left posterior central gyrus, and left putamen (P<0.05, replacement test correction). The dReHo values of left superior margin gyrus (r=-0.534, P=0.005) and left insula in ESRD patients (r=-0.422, P=0.032) were negatively correlated with the LR-S score, and the dReHo value of the left margin was negatively correlated with the SR-S score (r=-0.468, P=0.016). 【Conclusion】 There are abnormal dReHo values in several brain regions in ESRD patients during resting state, which is related to the patients’ cognitive function. The variation of dReHo value provides a new objective imaging basis for evaluating the cognitive function of ESRD patients.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effect of couch rotation angle on non-coplanar static intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) plan for gastric cancer and to provide a reference for clinical planning. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on patients who recently underwent postoperative IMRT for gastric cancer. Twenty patients who received radiotherapy in the centre of Radiation Oncology of Huanggang Central Hospital from August 2022 to January 2023 were selected. That were selected to receive a seven-field coplanar static IMRT plan based on a couch rotation angle of 0° as the control group. Then, based on the coplanar IMRT plan, only the couch rotation angle of gantry angles 30° and 330° was changed to 10°, 20°, 30°, 40°, 50°, 60°, 70°, 80°, and 90°, respectively, and nine different non-coplanar plans were established. The homogeneity index (HI), conformity index (CI) of the target volume, and monitor unit (MU), as well as Dmean, V20, and V30 of the left and right kidneys, Dmax, Dmean, V10, V20, and V30 of the spinal cord, and Dmax, Dmean, V10, V20, V30, and V40 of the small intestine and liver were compared among the 10 plans. The MU and the dosimetric parameters of the target volumes and When the couch rotation angle was 60°, the minimum HI and maximum CI of the target volume were 0.0714±0.0089 and 0.9271±0.0108, respectively, and the minimum MU was 438±26, with the best homogeneity and conformity in the target volume and the shortest machine treatment time (P<0.05). When the couch rotation angle was 10°, the Dmax of the small intestine was lowest, being (4620.73±99.27) cGy. When the couch rotation angle was 60°, the Dmean of the left and right kidneys was lowest, being (1246.30±130.35) cGy and (1001.52±103.33) cGy, respectively; the V20 of the left and right kidneys was lowest, being 22.87±6.29 and 19.69±1.84, respectively; the V10 and V30 of the spinal cord were lowest, being 40.08±4.92 and 1.68±0.34, respectively (P<0.05). Conclusion The couch rotation angle has some influence on the postoperative treatment planning for patients with gastric cancer. In the design of non-coplanar plan for gastric cancer, the couch rotation angle of 60° contributes to establishing a better radiotherapy plan.

ABSTRACT

In order to achieve the goal of integration, homogeneity, a net and a center of medical groups in Hainan province, Hainan province built an integrated management information platform of urban medical alliances and county medical communities based on projects such as the provincial three medical linkage information platform in February 2022. The overall architecture of the medical alliance and medical community platform was divided into system integration layer, data center layer, service layer and application layer. The service layer included four major systems: unified operation management platform, business center, performance evaluation management platform and comprehensive supervision subsystem, which was the core hub connecting the data center layer and application layer, and also was the unified operation and closed-loop management platform of the medical alliance and medical community. As of November 2022, the platform had covered 31 medical alliances or medical communities in 19 cities and counties of Hainan province, achieving information exchange, personnel interaction, resource sharing, business collaboration, and data integration among member units, narrowing the gap between urban and rural medical and health services, which had preliminarily achieved homogeneous management of the medical alliances and medical communities throughout the province, for a reference for the integrated management of medical alliances and medical communities within the regional scope of China.

All the participants underwent resting-state functional MRI scanning. The ReHo values was computed with the DPABI software based on the MATLAB. Firstly, the difference in ReHo among the patients with MDD noMF, MMF, BMF, BD noMF and HC group were estimated by the analysis of covariance and the post-hoc method (LSD or Games-Howell). And then, the brain regions with significant different ReHo values were selected as the seeds to calculate the functional connectivity with the whole brain. Results:A total of 29 cases in the MDD noMF group, 24 cases in the MMF group, 26 cases in the BMF group, 29 cases in the BD noMF group, and 42 in the HC group were included. The differences in ReHo values in the left fusiform and the left precuneus of the 5 groups were statistically significant ( P<0.05). Among of them, the ReHo values of the left fusiform were lower in the MMF, BMF and BD noMF groups compared with the HC group ( P<0.05), while the ReHo values of the left precuneus in MDD noMF, MMF, BMF and BD noMF groups were higher than that in the HC group ( P<0.05). The ReHo value of the left fusiform was lower in the MMF group compared with the MDD noMF group ( P=0.001); the ReHo value of the left fusiform was lower in the BMF group compared with the MDD noMF and BD noMF groups ( P<0.05). The functional connectivity between the left fusiform and vermis, left insula, right putamen, and left medial superior frontal gyrus, and functional connectivity between the left precuneus and right superior frontal gyrus (dorsolateral) showed significant difference among the MDD noMF, MMF, BMF, BD noMF and HC groups ( P<0.05). Compared with HC group, MDD noMF, MMF, BD noMF groups showed higher functional connectivity between the left fusiform and the vermis, and MDD noMF, MMF, BMF, BD noMF group showed higher functional connectivityy between the the left fusiform and the left insula, left medial superior frontal gyrus and right putamen ( P<0.05). Compared with the MDD noMF group, the MMF, BMF and BD noMF groups showed higher functional connectivity between the left fusiform and the left insula ( P<0.05). Compared with the MDD noMF group, the BMF and BD noMF groups had higher functional connectivity between the left fusiform and the left medial superior frontal gyrus ( P<0.05). The BMF group showed higher functional connectivity of the left fusiform with the right putamen than the MDD noMF and BD noMF groups. Additonally, the BMF and BD noMF groups showed higher functional connectivity between the left precuneus and the right superior frontal gyrus (dorsolateral) than HC, MDD noMF and MMF groups ( P<0.05). Conclusions:MMF and BMF patients have local abnormalities of functional activity synchronization in the left fusiform and precuneus and abnormal functional connectivity patterns with multiple brain regions. MMF and BMF patients have specific neuroimaging features compared to MDD noMF or BD noMF patients and also share similar neuroimaging pathogenesis.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore differences of resting brain regional homogeneity (ReHo) between patients with major depressive disorder (MDD) and their siblings. Methods:From January to December 2013, the resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data of 87 patients with MDD and 21 healthy siblings were collected.DPABI v5.1 software was used to preprocess the resting-state fMRI data, and ReHo maps of each subject was obtained. A two-sample t-test was used to compare differences between the patients with MDD and their siblings in ReHo values throughout the brain. ReHo values within the significant brain regions were extracted out, and used to calculate Spearman correlation with the total score of 17-items Hamilton depression rating scale(HAMD-17) in the patients with MDD and their siblings respectively. The software of SPSS 20.0 was used for statistical analysis. Results:The patients with MDD exhibited lower ReHo values in the precuneus extending to the posterior cingulate cortex (PCu/PCC) compared with their siblings (cluster-size=126 voxel, cluster-level PFDR=0.033; MNI: x=-4, y=-58, z=38, t=4.30). ReHo values of the PCu/PCC in patient with MDD were positively correlated with the severity of depressive symptoms ( r=0.255, P=0.021). Conclusion:Compared with the siblings, local brain activity of the PCu/PCC in the patients with MDD was decreased, and related to the severity of depressive symptoms. It is helpful to further reveal the intrinsic neural mechanism of MDD.

ABSTRACT

Aim: To evaluate radiographically endodontic treat- ments performed in the posterior area of the oral cavity and compare the frequency of acceptability in each tooth involved. Materials and methods: 5,000 archival radiographs of endodontic treatments performed between 2005 and 2019 on mandibular and maxillary premolars and molars in Argentina were evaluated. The percentages of correct and incorrect treatments were considered according to 1) shaping of the preparation; 2) apical limit of the obturation; 3) homogeneity of the obturation. The absolute and relative frequencies of correct and incorrect treatments were calcu- lated. The association between these frequencies and tooth type was analyzed using the chi-square test and Cramer's V coefficient. For the comparison between groups of teeth, the partition of the chi-square value obtained in the corre- sponding degrees of freedom was used. Level of significance was P <0.05. Results: The partition of the chi-square value did not show a significant difference between the first and second lower premolars. The differences were significant in the other comparisons. Conclusions: A high percentage of the endodontic treat- ments in the study population have at least one condition war- ranting their classification as incorrect according to the crite- ria established in this study. This percentage is more prevalent in complex anatomies (AU)

ABSTRACT

The purpose of the paper was to introduce the test for homoscedasticity and the SAS implementation. The test of homogeneity of variance could be divided into the following three categories, ①analysis of variance directly based on comparison of variances, ②analysis of variance based on mean comparison was adopted for the new data from the variable transformation of the original data, ③the method of the χ2 test was used to analyze the quantitative raw data which followed the normal distribution. In the first category, a test statistic that followed the F distribution was constructed directly based on the variance ratio of the two samples. In the second category, there were a variety of different variable transformation approaches for the original data, and the new data after the transformation, which was viewed as the univariate quantitative data collected from a single-factor with multi-level design, was analyzed by using one-way ANOVA. In the third category, the χ2 test statistic was constructed for quantitative data that followed the normal distribution. The paper was based on SAS software to test the homogeneity of variances of three examples, and explained the output results.

ABSTRACT

Objective To compare the dosimetric differences of four fluence smoothing (FS) levels of the Monaco system in intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) after rectal cancer surgery, and to provide a reference for FS selection in clinical practice. Methods A total of 15 postoperative patients with rectal cancer admitted in 2020 were selected. Under the same optimal conditions, FS was set to Off, Low, Medium, and High for IMRT planning. The data were analyzed by SPSS 20.0 software. The dosimetric parameters of planning target volume and organs at risk (OARs), the number of Segments, the number of monitor units (MUs), the estimated total delivery time (ETDT), and the gamma pass rate were compared between the four FS levels. Results The four FS levels resulted in clinically acceptable dosimetric parameters of the planning target volume and OARs, and there was no significant difference in dose distribution between FS levels. From FS-Off to FS-High, number of Segments, number of Mus, and ETDT decreased by 15.2%, 11.8%, and 6.7%, respectively, whereas gamma pass rate increased by 1.6%. Conclusion The IMRT plans at four FS levels can meet the clinical requirements. Considering the planning quality and execution efficiency, FS-High is recommended for postoperative IMRT of patients with rectal cancer.

ABSTRACT

The method of homogeneity evaluation for active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) spatial distribution in lyophilized product was investigated for the first time with confocal micro-Raman spectroscopy mapping, using pemetrexed disodium for injection as a model drug. Certain areas of the lyophilized product were scanned to obtain Raman spectra. The classical method ("peak clipping" method) was employed for mapping with characteristic Raman peaks of the API and the excipient. Due to the API being finely dispersed in the excipient in lyophilized products, the classical method cannot discriminate between the two ingredients making the distribution homogeneity difficult to evaluate. The "ratio of characteristic peak intensities" method was then utilized. Using this method, the relative intensity of the characteristic Raman peaks of the API to the excipient was applied for mapping and the relative content of API to excipient was calculated for a homogeneity evaluation of the drug distribution. The validation of this method showed a good linear relationship between the relative intensity and the relative content of API to excipient (r2 > 0.99), and the precision and recovery were adequate for homogeneity evaluation of API by Raman spectroscopy mapping. Five products of pemetrexed disodium for injection from different manufacturers were tested through Raman maps applying this method and the histograms of relative Raman intensity were also plotted by frequency to help the homogeneity evaluation of drug distribution. The results showed that there were obvious differences in the drug distribution homogeneity from different products, where a more homogeneous API distribution was found in the brand product. This research provides a reliable method for the homogeneity evaluation of API distribution, which facilitates quality evaluation and process optimization of lyophilized products.

ABSTRACT

The aim of this study was to evaluate the reasons of quality deviation of a concentrate from a predefined standard. Five treatments were established: T1 - Control, standard concentrate formulation (SCF); T2 - PXMore5, SCF with more 5% vitamin-mineral premix (VMP); T3 - PXLess5, SCF with less 5% VMP. All three treatments used a 400kg batches in an INTECNIAL mixer; T4 - FeedMixer, SCF using a 4,000kg batch in an IMOTO mixer; T5 - PremixMixer, SCF using a 1,200kg batch in an MUYANG mixer. For each treatment, bags of 20 kg were stored in three storage places for four months. Water activity of concentrate was affected by temperature and air relative humidity in different storage places. Regarding the kind of mixer, the greatest variation in concentration of crude protein, mineral residue, copper, zinc, and selenium was observed in the PremixMixer. Adjustments are imperative in the handling and use procedures of this kind of mixer to meet the quality requirements required in the concentrate production. Analyzing the effect of the mineral-vitamin premix level, no difference could be defined with the evaluated parameters.(AU)

ABSTRACT

The purpose of the paper was to introduce the relative risk analysis method of g×2×2 table data and the calculation method based on SAS software. The contents included the following aspects: firstly, the homogeneity test of the data in the g×2×2 table was performed; secondly, when the data met the homogeneity requirements, the point estimation and confidence interval estimation of the common relative risk based on the correction method were implemented; thirdly, when the data did not meet the requirements of homogeneity, the common relative risk RRDL and its 95% confidence interval were estimated, based on the DerSimonian-Laird method (DL method for short); fourthly, when the data met and did not meet the requirements of homogeneity, the hypothesis of "whether the common relative risk equals to 1" was tested. Combining two examples and based on SAS software, the paper completed the following three tasks: ① the homogeneity test for the relative risk; ② the point estimation of the common relative risk; ③the confidence interval estimation of the common relative risk. The last two tasks were performed under the conditions of the data met and did not meet the homogeneity requirements, respectively. The output results of SAS software were explained, and the statistical and professional conclusions were made.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this article was to introduce the odds ratio analysis method of g×2×2 table data and the calculation method based on SAS software. The contents included the following aspects: firstly, the homogeneity test of the odds ratio of the data in the g×2×2 table was performed; secondly, when the data met the homogeneity requirements, point estimation and confidence interval estimation for the common odds ratio based on the correction method were implemented; thirdly, when the data did not meet the homogeneity requirements, based on the approach of "the conditional distribution of the frequency in the (1,1) grid in each layer 2×2 table" , these things, such as the point estimation and confident interval estimation as well as hypothesis testing about the common odds ratio, were accurately estimated and performed. All calculations were realized based on the FREQ procedure in SAS/STAT by means of two real examples. Furthermore, the output results of SAS software were explained, and the statistical and professional conclusions were made.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of the paper was to introduce the methods for the homogeneity test of odds ratio of a special multiway table (i.e g×2×2 table) and its SAS implementation. In the FREQ procedure of SAS/STAT, five approches for the homogeneity tests of odds ratio were introduced in detail. They were "Breslow-Day test""Breslow-Day-Tarone test""Q test""I2 measurement statistic and its uncertainty limit" and "Zelen΄s exact test". In addition, the approaches for "the homogeneity tests of the relative risk and the difference of the risk rate" were also introduced. Combining two examples, the article introduced the concrete content of the homogeneity test for the odds ratio based on SAS software, explained the output results, and concluded the statistical and professional conclusions.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this paper was to introduce the methods of the "layered person-time data" rate ratio analysis and the SAS implementation. The specific contents included the following four aspects: ① the point estimation and the confidence interval estimation of the layer i rate ratio in the stratified person-time data; ② the homogeneity test of the rate ratios among the different layers; ③ the point estimation and the confidence interval estimation of the common rate ratio; ④ the linear trend test of the incidence density in the stratified person-time data. Through two examples, it showed the statistical calculation process based on the SAS software to realize the aforementioned four kinds of the analysis contents, including providing the SAS program code, the explanation of the SAS output results, and giving the statistical and professional conclusions.
